The Sustainability Coordinator is passionate about reducing, reusing, and recycling, has experience coordinating green initiatives, and is excited to expand our current diversion efforts toward becoming zero-waste! The position will identify, advocate for and incorporate sustainable practices throughout the Fest. This outgoing, organized human can think on their feet, is able to work independently AND as a team member, doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, and is comfortable collaborating with a wide variety of people.
Sustainability Coordinator – True/False Film Fest
Duties Include:
- Work with Events, Theater Operations, and Production staff and volunteers to decrease the Fest’s environmental impact
- Collaborate with the Communications team to create and implement a marketing campaign to educate the public, especially festgoers, about this program and about Fest sustainability
- Coordinate with local restaurants and the City to track and divert food waste
- Measure and evaluate waste composition to determine diversion rate and track progress toward zero-waste
- Continue to grow the T/F recycling program, increasing capacity and streamlining the process, as well as creating simple yet informative marketing tools for festgoers, volunteers, and staff
- Recruit, train, and manage 25-30 volunteers for the Sustainability Team
- Manage a Sustainability Assistant

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and traits:
- Has experience coordinating green initiatives
- Has experience managing a team
- Have excellent problem solving skills
- Must be willing and able to lift 50lbs, drive a box truck, and work on their feet for long hours
Compensation & Culture: This role is a seasonal position with True/False Film Fest, a non-profit in Columbia, Missouri. We offer a results-oriented work environment, flexibility in setting your schedule, and a collaborative culture. The stipend for this position is $2,500. The position requires full event availability during the week of the Fest, February 27 – March 2, 2025.
