Fest Digest No. 3: His Girl Friday

Day Two of the fest is in full swing, and despite the manic-depressive weather (I am snow; I am rain; I am sad), True/False is charging forward into the second full day of programming. The reports continue to roll in. Billy Schuh, music co-coordinator for the fest, wrote in about the multilingual challenges of the reception of Les Trois Coups:

After confirming the booking, travel, and itinerary for the band, the music team planned out the logistics of their arrival to Columbia. At the time we knew that at least one member spoke English, but we soon realized that we needed not only to arrange for transportation, but we also had to find someone who spoke French to serve as a translator.

Luckily, [2012 T/F busker] Richard the Lionhearted’s Kyle Stewart not only had the wheels for transportation, but had a good friend who was getting a post-grad degree in French at Mizzou. So, thanks to Kyle, T/F was able to enlist Scott Gossett as the official Les Trois Coups translator.

They travelled yesterday to St. Louis and picked up the band after their performance at the St. Louis Language Immersion School:

The band will play several performances for T/F, but Scott was able to carve out a little time for them to perform for his French students at Mizzou.

Catch Le Trois Coups busking this afternoon at Ninth and Broadway, just before the March March begins (their energy should clear up any lingering clouds), as well as at various undisclosed screenings throughout the rest of the fest.
