Ragtag Film Society (True/False + Ragtag Cinema) is participating in CoMoGives this year, and extremely excited to do so! That means all donations will run through the CoMoGives website. It’s super easy, we promise! All you do is scroll through the list of area non-profits, and select Ragtag Film Society. The site goes live on Giving Tuesday, a day the celebrate your favorite non-profits and give back to those that serve your community all year long.

Each year we hold an annual campaign, a drive to raise money that helps sustain our non-profit throughout the year. Your donation helps us bring world class cinema to mid-Missouri, support independent filmmakers & independent voices, offer media literacy programming in public schools, and create a magical four-day celebration every March. The generosity of individuals like you is what enables Ragtag to connect people with culture, creativity, knowledge, and ideas through film and film events. With your support, we are able to produce rich and unique programming that engages and inspires a broad audience here in Mid-Missouri.

Donate! Ragtag Film Society can win a CoMoGives.com Challenge Grant with the help of you and your friends. CoMoGives.com awards $2,000 to the organization with the highest number of unique donors. Share the word!

If you give $50 or more to Ragtag Film Society on CoMoGives.com before Dec. 19, you’ll receive a ticket to our Dec. 20 screening of the much buzzed-about film The Favourite at the Missouri Theatre and an invitation to a pre-screening reception! Give $15 and you’ll get a fancy Ragtag enamel pin in the shape of a classic Ragtag sofa!

Over the month of December we’ll be posting some things we did over the past year that wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our friends, family, and film-lovin’ community. Stay tuned, nostalgic moments coming soon

“Is it too much to say that T/F changes the nature of reality for a few days? Perhaps that is why you use all those alchemical images in your pre-show videos. Whatever the magic, it feels like a balm for everything that is wrong with the world - with the occasional hint at the cure.”- Linda Davis, Producer (The Force, The Waiting Room)
True/False 2018 presented 141 screenings of 45 features films and 24 short films. Approximately 51,546 tickets were issued to those films. Half-dozen films marked their festival debut at the 15th annual True/False, including Black Mother, director Khalik Allah’s exploration of Jamaica’s resilient and rebellious spirit, and América, Chase Whiteside and Erick Stoll’s emotional feature debut about a family’s multigenerational connection.
Each year, supported by the The Academy True/False presents Neither/Nor. This sidebar series, curated by a guest critic or programmer, featured four works by the incredible Black Audio Film Collective presented by Ashley Clark. Ash also produced a 52-page monograph with writings and interviews from members of the collective. The monograph is available online (and at Ragtag Cinema during the Fest) for free.
True/False 2018 hosted 62 artists who created 25 art installations in over 20 downtown Columbia venues. One of our favorite pieces from last year's Fest was the topsy-turvy GYRO-KINETIC HOUSE installation spun high over our 9th Street Sculpture Yard.
