This people-organizing whiz helps our Manager of Venue Operations (MOVO) keep our film & music venues running with creative solutions to logistical problems. You open and close the doors to the theaters and manage everything that happens in between (and beforehand). Must absolutely love logistical planning, hypothesizing and/or solving worst-case scenarios, attendee traffic flow solutions, and leading a small army of venue managers and operations staff. This position is a challenging mix of venue relations, theater operations, volunteer coordination, and general festival logistics.
 
															Assistant Manager of Venue Operations – True/False Film Fest
									Duties Include:
				- Assist in the training and supervision of Venue Captains, Assistant Venue Captains, Stage Managers, Queens, and other venue staff/volunteers before and during the fest.
- Assist in developing venue-specific manuals, training materials, and operational plans including: volunteer duties, staff placement, set-up/break-down procedures, and integration of theater operations and events.
- Assist the MOVO as a communication hub for theater operations and events (as related to implementation at venues) during the festival.
- Assist with communication and compliance of safety regulations, ADA accessibility, crowd management, and emergency procedures at all venues.
- Act as the secondary festival contact for venues (outside of Venue Captains) during festival week, coordinating with the Operations Director, Production Manager, and Technical Director to ensure theaters are prepared for screenings and admission procedures are implemented.
- Conduct training sessions for venue management staff and general venue operations volunteers, including updating and distributing the volunteer manual and other training materials.
- Coordinate with the Special Operations team to address last-minute volunteer needs.
- Assemble and inventory venue supply boxes for festival week.
- Participate in post-festival venue walk-throughs and provide wrap notes and recommendations.
- Perform other related duties as reasonably assigned by the Operations Director and MOVO.
									The ideal candidate will have the following skills and traits:
				- Experience in event or venue operations, preferably in a festival or live performance environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfortable using digital tools for scheduling, communication, and budgeting.
- Local to Columbia, within a reasonable driving distance, or able to travel for important dates.
									Compensation & Culture: This role is a seasonal independent contractor position with a non-profit in Columbia, Missouri. This role begins immediately upon hire through March 9, with a stipend of $1750 split into two payments. Additionally, travel and housing support may be available for out-of-town applicants. Candidates must be able to participate in several logistical/planning meetings (in person or via Zoom) during the months leading up to the fest, and be willing to travel to Columbia for two staff/volunteer training sessions in February. Candidates must be fully available the week of the fest, 3/5 to 3/9.
