New York City’s Meatpacking District, also known as “The Stroll,” was a space for trans sex workers to live and work. Co-director Kristen Lovell reflects on her own personal journey as a Black trans former sex worker while conducting intimate interviews of other trans people of color to document the history of “The Stroll.” The film intertwines precious archival footage, animation, and interviews to craft a vital portrait of an underrepresented community. The film pays particular homage by highlighting the work of trans activist Silvia Rivera, who fought for equality, fairness, and decency for trans people. The Stroll honors the legacy of chosen family and unity within the trans community. (KS) This film contains references to transphobia, homophobia, racism and policing of sex work
