In Our Body, True/False Film Fest veteran Claire Simon (T/F 2017 True Vision honoree and director of T/F 2021’s The Grocer’s Son, the Mayor, the Village and the World) observes the everyday operations of a gynecology ward of a hospital in France. The film expands upon the viewers’ understanding of gynecological care and health by depicting a diverse set of patients with ovaries and vaginas. After investing time following the diligent work of the doctors, Simon enters the camera frame when she, too, becomes a patient. Offering an intimate look into medical care on body parts that are often overly politicized and regulated, the film allows viewers to understand the complexities of “our bodies.” (KS) This film contains footage of medical procedures and references to abortion.
