SHOW ME TRUE/FALSE
Show Me T/F is part of the year-round Show Me Series—a key part of Ragtag Film Society’s audience-development and community-engagement initiatives. Post-film community conversations transport audiences beyond content to interrogate form and intention, weaving historical contexts with the present.
This year’s selection, How to Build a Library, follows a pair of women who attempt to reckon with their nation’s past through the reclamation of a cultural institution. In taking over the management of the McMillan Memorial Library in Nairobi, they come face to face with the persistent legacy of colonialism in Kenya and work to create a new vision of a communal space for learning, debate, and community. The film reflects on the role of art in community, the necessity of reckoning with history, and the power in coming together to fight for change. Following the Saturday screening of the film, there will be an extended Q&A with the filmmakers.
In an effort to remove barriers to entry and shift our collective pendulum closer to equity, inclusion, and unity, tickets for the Show Me T/F screening on Saturday, March 1 are offered at a discounted rate of $6 and can be purchased at the Box Office, online, or via the Q.
