What movie would be complete without the perfect soundtrack?

From the beginning, the True/False Film Fest has gifted audiences with live music before every screening, and these performances have become a hallmark, an essential part of what makes this not just a festival, but also an experience. Our musicians ready people to take in an emotional film and then help them get out of their heads and into their bodies at our bumping after parties and thoughtfully curated nightly showcases. They seemingly transform ordinary spaces into places of creative possibility.

We are currently seeking musical acts to be part of the 24th annual True/False Film Fest taking place March 4-7, 2027, especially Pre-Film Musicians who set the scene for each screening with a 30 minute set as filmgoers settle in.

The T/F Music program loves to spotlight artists local to Columbia, Missouri, and groups from the broader Midwest region, but anyone can apply via our submission form, and we are open to all genres! We encourage everyone to apply; that includes emerging artists, solo acts, and small ensembles, as well as those with the ability to modify their setups to unorthodox performance spaces.

Go to the ‘Submissions’ section to learn more and access our application form; the final deadline is Monday, November 16, 2026.
