MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR – RAGTAG FILM SOCIETY
Overview: We are looking for a savvy marketing pro with a passion for cultivating the RFS voice and brand to lead the Marketing and Communications teams for Ragtag Cinema and True/False Film Fest. This role’s primary objectives are to develop and implement an overall marketing strategy and support staff across both projects in their execution of the organization’s mission-driven work.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Excellent leadership and management skills;
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Comfort working on and delivering messaging through a variety of platforms and media;
- Highly organized, attentive to detail;
- Ability to translate creative concepts into engaging visual formats;
- Ability to adjust to different systems and software;
- Familiarity with project management tools, e-newsletter software, and Adobe;
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment;
- Brand awareness of Ragtag Film Society —both True/False and Ragtag Cinema— preferred.
- Passion and understanding of the film industry, preferred.
- Understanding of the not-for-profit arts sector, preferred.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage and guide the organization’s social media coordinator;
- Manage Fest marketing-related teams, providing guidance and support to these seasonal independent contractors in setting their objectives, technical needs, and deadlines, as they pertain to the overall org needs in their areas (teams include: Photo, Video, Graphic Design, and Press).
- Develop effective messaging and communication strategy for RFS, including marketing, advertising, and public relations;
- Increase awareness of the organization internationally, nationally, regionally, and locally, while mindful of the various audiences and communities that RFS seeks to partner and engage with;
- Review all external communications for quality control, including press releases, newsletters, and publications;
- Write & send high-level stakeholder e-blasts;
- Collaborate with other departments as necessary to plan and market events;
- Attend and support RFS events as needed;
- Collaborate with the Development and Cinema directors to manage media trade sponsorships from strategy to sponsorship benefit fulfillment, and create media ad schedules with other stakeholders;
- Help update the organization’s websites along with other team members;
- Help develop consistent RFS branding on org websites and print materials;
- Manage marketing and communications teams’ budgets;
Compensation and Culture: This position is for a full-time, salaried, year-round employee, with an annual salary in the range of $45-49k. We offer a results-oriented work environment, a flexible schedule, 28 days of paid time off per year, 9 paid holidays, and a collaborative culture. The ideal candidate would reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Columbia, Missouri, and available for a start date in the month of May.
