A bright-and-early tradition at T/F, the True Life Run invites all runners and walkers to start Saturday, March 1 with a mad dash through the streets of downtown Columbia. The 5k run/walk will start at 9:00am in Flat Branch Park and take in the landmarks of our fair city, offering a handful of eclectic adventures along the way. In addition to some interesting prizes from local businesses, we'll also be offering one Lux pass to next year’s True/False to the male and female winners. Winners will be determined by a combination of course time and successful participation in hair-brained challenges along the way.
Waxwing Puzzle Co. and Ready Set Results will once again combine forces to present the True Life Run.
Proceeds from the Run will be donated to T/F's philanthropic effort, the True Life Fund.
Participating in the run also qualifies you for a special $5 ticket price at a screening of the 2014 True Life Fund film, Cynthia Hill's Private Violence. Simply take your race bib to the venue where the film is playing, and you'll be admitted for $5 (vs. $10 at the venue) via the Q. Admission is based on a space available basis, so get there early. (The Q opens one hour before the screening) Screening times are Saturday, March 1 at 3 pm and Sunday, March 2 at 12:30 pm, both at Jesse Auditorium.
And now for the results...
2014 runners had to take on challenges on course including ultimate hopscotch, Newspaper Labyrinth, Foam Noodle Freeze Tag, Catch the Rabbit and the Mayors Council obstacle course.
The winners were Ian Chillag in 18:47 and Sara Spoede in 20:28 (unadjusted). Both got the secret password of "Billie Jean King" for a two minute time bonus to make their times 16:47 and 18:28 respectively. Both winners get Lux passes to next years festival!
